为何加拿大叫province？
因为“province”有“省(域)”的意思，所以问为何加国是“the provinces”而不是“the states”就很有道理了。 加拿大的行政区划和州一级大致相当（当然，美国是联邦制国家），都分为county/郡、city/县、town/市镇，然后州以上一级就是“the Provinces”。 然而加拿大的“Provincial”可不是指“某个州的”意思哦！它指的是“某省(或州)的”：
- I live in British Columbia， also known as ‘THE PROVINCE OF BC’.
- The Prime Minister of Canada is from Ontario but lives in Quebec. He has to commute between residences every day and that's why they call it 'THE PROVINCE OF ONTARIO'. (This one's a joke… but there are some actual province names which would be better translated as "the state of...")
