博士必须推荐信吗？
在美国申请 Ph.D 的时候必须找推荐人写推荐信，但不需要事先打招呼，直接让推荐人在指定日期和院系邮箱里发一封内容大致如下（仅供参考）的推荐信即可：
Dear Admissions Committee： I am pleased to recommend xxx as a candidate for admission to yourPh.D. programs in [subject]. XXX is an outstanding student with a strong academic record and a passion for her/his research topic. She/he has done very good work under my supervision on the following project related to …[topic].
I have no doubt that she/he will do excellent work at your school. Please feel free to contact me if you need any additional information about XX’s qualifications or background. Best regards， Professor Name（注意，要写全称！不然可能无法识别） 注1：美国很多学校要求提交的申请材料的电子版在截止日期前一周左右发到指定的招生邮箱；纸质版要在截止日期之前送到学校。
注2：有些学校的部分项目需要申请者先在网上提交申请，待录取通知发出后再补送正式完整的申请材料。
